Cabbage Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until they become fragrant and slightly golden.
  3. Add the julienned carrot and sliced bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. If you prefer a spicy stir-fry, you can also add the red pepper flakes.
  6. Pour the sauce over the cabbage mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for another minute or two to allow the flavors to meld together.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
  8. Remove from heat and serve the cabbage stir-fry hot. It can be enjoyed as a side dish or as a main course when paired with rice or noodles.
